Changes in District Point Totals, 2016 to 2017

The Parents’ Campaign Research and Education Fund reviewed and compared changes in school districts’ total points scored from 2016 to 2017 on the 1,000-point Accountability Rating scale. The following shows changes – increases and decreases – by rating level (A-F).

Districts Rated F in 2016:

• 17 of 19 F-rated districts gained ground in total points (largest gain for an F district is 214 points)
• Average change in total points is +48.1
• 12 of 19 districts rated F in 2016 moved up to a D in 2017; one moved up to a C

Districts rated D in 2016:

• 25 of 35 D-rated districts gained ground in total points (largest gain for a D district is 86 points)
• Average change in total points is +24.5
• 15 of 35 districts rated D in 2016 moved up to a C in 2017; one moved up to a B; 2 moved down to an F

Districts rated C in 2016:

• 23 of 36 C-rated districts gained ground in total points (largest gain for a C district is 88 points)
• Average change in total points is +13.2
• 10 of 36 districts rated C in 2016 moved up to a B in 2017; 5 moved down to a D

Districts rated B in 2016:

• 22 of 39 B-rated districts gained ground in total points (largest gain for a B district is 82 points)
• Average change in total points is +3.8
• 6 of 17 districts rated B in 2016 moved up to an A in 2017; 6 moved down to a C

Districts rated A in 2016:

• 6 of 14 A-rated districts gained ground in total points (largest gain for an A district is 47 points )
• The average change in total points on the accountability rating system was -13.2
• 5 of 14 districts rated A in 2016 moved to a B in 2017
