RePublic Schools has applied to open an additional two charter schools in Jackson. RePublic’s Reimagine Prep will open in August 2015 as Mississippi’s first charter school. The proposed elementary and middle schools would share a campus in North Central Jackson. At its June meeting, the Mississippi Charter School Authorizer Board also moved forward an application from Phoenix Early College Charter School in Natchez. One other applicant, Peter’s Rock Temple Church of God in Christ in Starkville, was denied because it lacked approval by the local school board.
