Five Charter Schools Advance in Application Process

Applications for charter schools in Canton, Greenwood (2), South Pike, and Vicksburg-Warren school districts will move to the next stage of the application process, per a vote by the Mississippi Charter School Authorizer Board earlier this month.

Letters of Intent Submitted for 14 New Charter Schools

Letters of intent for the 2019 application cycle were submitted to the Mississippi Charter School Authorizer Board for 14 new charter schools. The proposed charter schools would be located in the following school districts:  Canton, Cleveland, Greenville (2), Greenwood (2), Holly Springs, Holmes County Consolidated (2), McComb, North Bolivar Consolidated, South Pike, Vicksburg-Warren, Wilkinson County.

RePublic Schools, based in Nashville, yesterday received approval by the Mississippi Charter School Authorizer Board to open Revive Prep, serving grades K-8, and RePublic High School, serving grades 9-12, both in Jackson. Nine charter school applicants submitted letters of intent to the Mississippi Charter School Authorizer Board indicating they plan to participate in Mississippi’s 2017 charter school application process. The proposed charter schools would be located in the following school districts: Canton, Clarksdale, Columbus, Greenwood, Holmes County (2), Jackson (2), South Pike, and Sunflower County.
