The Mississippi Charter School Authorizer Board voted yesterday to approve a proposal by SR1 to open SR1 College Preparatory and STEM Academy, serving grades K-5 in Canton. In its first year, 2022-2023, the school plans to serve 150 students in grades K-1. The board rejected an application for a charter school in Bolivar County. Earlier in the 2020 application cycle, the board had rejected an application for a charter school in McComb.
