The Mississippi Charter School Authorizer Board voted yesterday to approve a proposal by SR1 to open SR1 College Preparatory and STEM Academy, serving grades K-5 in Canton. MS Delta Academies yesterday received approval by the Mississippi Charter School Authorizer Board to open Leflore Legacy Academy, serving grades 6-8, in Greenwood. In its first year, 2020-2021, the school will serve only grade 6. The board rejected applications for charter schools in Canton and Vicksburg-Warren, as well as a second application for another Greenwood charter school. Note:

Applications for charter schools in Canton, Greenwood (2), South Pike, and Vicksburg-Warren school districts will move to the next stage of the application process, per a vote by the Mississippi Charter School Authorizer Board earlier this month.

Letters of intent for the 2019 application cycle were submitted to the Mississippi Charter School Authorizer Board for 14 new charter schools. The proposed charter schools would be located in the following school districts:  Canton, Cleveland, Greenville (2), Greenwood (2), Holly Springs, Holmes County Consolidated (2), McComb, North Bolivar Consolidated, South Pike, Vicksburg-Warren, Wilkinson County.

RePublic Schools, based in Nashville, yesterday received approval by the Mississippi Charter School Authorizer Board to open Revive Prep, serving grades K-8, and RePublic High School, serving grades 9-12, both in Jackson.
